November 20, 2024 - Fly to Chester County for Lunch

Three Essex Skypark RVs headed north to Chester County Airport in Pennsylvania for lunch today.  The on-field restaurant at Chester County had closed a few years ago, during Covid I think.  But recently I saw a new restaurant had opened there, so we decided to check it out.  We had Gadget and Mark in Gadget's RV-7A.  Brian was in his RV-8 and myself in the RV-7.  Weather was good although there was a broken layer about 1,500 feet above ground level at Chester County.

Here I'm following Brian on a crosswind for runway 11 at Chester County.

The terminal building houses the FBO -- Signature -- and the restaurant.

The Hungry Pilot Bar & Grill.  Sounds pretty good!

The place has been remodelled a little, and now has a well-stocked bar.  Not that pilots can take advantage of that.  Chuck, Mark and Brian are happy to be here.

Another look at the inside of the Hungry Pilot.  The food, service and prices were all good.  We'll be back.

Our rides sitting on the ramp.

Facing some slightly faster and more expensive rides.

The flight home was fun because we encounted a broken layer that made things interesting.

Flying off Brian in route formation.

At one point the layer was solid.

Brian and Chuck checking for deer on the Essex Skypark runway.

I had Gunnar the dog with me today so after flying I took him on a walk around the Skypark.  He loves to run wild and free.

We went on one of the forest trails.  The vegetation is dimished because of Fall, so the thorns aren't a problem like they are in the summer.

Gunnar has lots of interesting things to sniff in the woods.

Wild and free!
